Secrets of Barcelona – Part 1
We invite you to discover the Barcelona´s most fascinating treasures that you do not find in any guide.
Part 1 – Torre Bellesguard, the unknown Gaudi
Antoni Gaudi, one of the most well known architect of the Catalan modernism built this house to a close friend, the merchant Jaume Figueras in 1900. It was closed to the public until sometime ago when the actual owners, the Guilera Family decide to share the building with visitors.
Torre Bellesguard was built on the same site as Marti the Humane, the last monarch of the House of Aragón, built a summer retreat in 1410.
That´s the reason the house looks like a castle since Gaudi wanted to claim the history of the site.
Interiors instead are a very good example of the catalan art nouveau architecture.
Markets of Barcelona – Sants District
The historic Sants Market building is about to re-open soon to show visistors another good example of Barcelona Modernism architecture.
The facade remais the same but new and modern facilities interior, with a self-service supermarket added to the traditional stalls. You will findalso an underground car park and a service level where lorries will be able to load and unload.
